About the cycle "The Scent of Summer" by Barbara Puto
Cycle"The Scent of Summer"is a series of watercolors by Barbara Puto dedicated to the experience of nature as an emotional space. The illuminated fields, grasses, and flowers are not described illustratively here, but become carriers of mood, memory, and inner experience.
The images from this cycle operate with light – both the golden glow of the sun and the cooler, silvery light of the moon – as well as a subtle, breathing palette of colors. The painterly freedom and soft gesture create a sense of calm, tenderness, and a pause in time. This is painting that does not document the landscape, buttransfers its emotional trace..
