The cycle "Silence of Transition"

Cycle"Silence of Transition"Barbara Puto's cycle does not describe change as an event or movement in time. Transition is understood here asan internal process– a state between the need for meaning and action, between freedom and responsibility, between thought and relationship.

The subsequent images do not create a narrative, buta structure of decision-making maturity. Silence here is not a lack, but a condition: a space where the question of meaning arises, the need to give something to the world, the rooting of ideas, and the readiness to act. Light – present in each image – does not serve a symbolic function directly, but becomes a carrier of warmth and attentiveness, gradually shifting the focus from the inner self to the relationship with others.

The cycle consists of five works:

  • Awakening of the Day– the impulse of movement and the search for meaning,

  • Silence of Breath– the experience of freedom and space, and the desire to act for the world,

  • Silence of Being– the moment when the idea takes root and begins to provide a sense of meaning,

  • Silence of Readiness– the stage of responsibility and questions: how, to whom, and where,

  • Silence of Opening– the beginning of action, the first spark that does not yet warm the other being, but already reaches beyond itself.

Each image functions autonomously, yet only together do they createa processual whole– a story about good that does not arise from impulse or declaration, but matures in silence, awareness, and decision. The cycle does not end in fulfillment, butin readiness for relationship.

Movement as a beginning. The moment when the question of the meaning and reason for one's existence arises. The world does not yet provide answers, but the need to seek them becomes unstoppable.

The feeling of freedom and space – like the flight of birds above limitations. A desire is born to give something back to the world, something that will make it better than it was before.

The idea takes root. Meaning ceases to be just an idea – it begins to endure, grow, and provide a sense of fulfillment. It is a moment when significance does not fade away but strengthens over time.

Silence of the passage
– a cycle of watercolors by Barbara Puto

"The Silence of Transition"is an exhibition cycle of five watercolors byBarbara Puto, about the journey from seeking meaning to action directed towards others. It is a story of goodness that does not arise from impulse, but matures in freedom, responsibility, and decision before it becomes real warmth for another being.

This is a conceptual and problematic cycle intended for gallery presentation, curatorial dialogue, and participation in exhibitions and open calls. This painting requires careful reception and does not operate on a decorative effect.

Readiness for action, but still with questions: how, to whom, where. Silence becomes a place of responsibility, where the decision matures before taking the form of action.

Action – the first spark that ignites. We already know where and how, but the warmth has not yet reached the second being. It is the moment when meaning begins to extend beyond itself.
